The Moreton Show Home & Garden team held a special workshop on Easter Monday at the Fosseway Garden Centre in Moreton in Marsh.
The aim of the Moreton Show – Have a Go session was to demonstrate that even gardening newcomers can grow and prepare fruits, vegetables and flowers to impress the judges.
Local vegetable growing expert, Chris Small led the way with advice on entering the produce section; members of Moreton in Marsh Flower Club had handy hints on flower arranging and children were taught how to make a mini garden and how to grow potatoes.
Moreton Show, which takes place on Saturday, September 2nd, is keen to encourage new entrants to its Home and Garden section. Gill Godwin, chief children’s steward, said: ‘It was fantastic to see so many people wanting to know more about taking part in our show. The children were all so creative and I think they had a lot of fun learning something new.’
Moreton Show is one of the biggest one-day agricultural shows in the country and there are plenty of classes to get involved in. Details of all the classes to enter in every section are available on the Moreton Show website at www.moretonshow.co.uk.
