Moreton Show celebrates great British life

Moreton Show returned on Saturday 3rd September as a wonderful celebration of British life.

CAPTION: Tommy Digweed – Champion Sheep Young Handler – with Tom Hayman-Joyce, Chair of Moreton Show.

The Moreton-in-Marsh and District Agricultural and Horse Show Society put on another fantastic family-friendly show at the weekend.

The Batsford Estate was awash with farming and equestrian fanatics, who joined together to showcase livestock, horses and home & garden produce in the 165-acre showground.

Some of the Show’s highlights included a fly-past from the World's only flyable WWII Lancaster bomber, the UK's number 1 FMX Athlete and his freestyle motocross stunts, the Welsh Axemen’s daredevil displays, an exciting end to the Shetland Pony Grand National and an amazing display of Livestock in the much-loved parade.

Moreton Show has been established for over 70 years and is now one of the largest one-day agricultural shows in the country. The show prides itself on its traditional values, providing a stage for local produce and crafts whilst delivering an entertaining and educational day out for all visitors.

Tom Hayman-Joyce, Moreton Show chair says: ‘What a magnificent day we had, the weather was perfect, the quality of livestock and horses competing were exemplary and there were smiles all round, we even had many a tear in the eye with the Lancaster fly over. The show was a huge success, with so many thanks going to our volunteers, the office team, our sponsors, competitors, traders, visitors and members.’

The Show’s supporters once again demonstrated their resolve and contributed their time and efforts to make the Moreton Show a resounding success.

Richard Heath, Show Director, said: ‘My feet hurt! But for such a fantastic reason. It’s so rewarding to see so many people enjoying themselves at this wonderful celebration of British life.’

We extend a huge congratulations to the winners and runners up in all the classes, particularly the following; Mr P Dawes and his Limousin, Dinmore Perfection – Supreme Cattle Champion, Mr J Theyer and his Texel Shearling Ewe Lamb – Supreme Sheep Champion, Miss A Miller and her Dairy cow, Amanda Zazzle – Champion Cattle Young Handler and Mr T Digweed and his Blue Texel – Champion Sheep Young Handler.

Stuart Mace, incoming chair, said: ‘Thank you to everyone who joined us for the day, what a fantastic turnout!

It’s been great to see so many smiley faces and friends of the Show. The Show committee is absolutely thrilled. I extend a genuine thank you to all of our exhibitors and sponsors. What a fabulous effort from home & garden, livestock and horses too.

I’m especially pleased to see so many young people in the showground. One of my aims is to encourage more new faces into the Show and the committees too.’

Contact Stuart directly through the main show office on: 01608 651908 if you’d like to take a proactive role in Moreton Show 2023.
